As much as possible, we prefer to design to avoid testing, knowing the cost, risk and time involved with hardware and firmware testing. This philosophy is made possible by a modular approach with lots of reuse and well defined interfaces.
Hardware design is made in Altium CircuitStudio ("Altium Designer for small companies"; fully compatible but at a fraction of the cost)
For software Visual Studio is our preferred tool, but also AutoIt and LabVIEW have been used.
For firmware development Visual Studio with Visual GDB, or IAR Embedded Workbench are our weapons of choice, but we have also been using Eclipse, Keil and MPLAB.
For online services we use Microsoft Azure and Microsoft CNTK.
Simple mechanical designs can be created in Autodesk Fusion 360 and 3D printed in house in ABS and PLA.
Basic single and dual layer PCB's can be milled in house
